In one of our back-to-school articles where we gave 7 tips on how to get your kids ready for the upcoming school year, we suggested doing one last thing to ceremoniously say goodbye to summer, such as one last beach trip. Here’s another fun idea: a back-to-school party!

It’s going to be (very) difficult for our kids to say goodbye to summer and all the fun they have had for the past two months. From sleeping in, watching more hours of TV, summer play dates and beach trips, it’s going to be hard for them to feel anything but sad or anxious about leaving all that for ten months of workbooks, homework and exams.

This awesome idea we found on Kara’s Party Ideas, submitted by Alice Nielsen of Styled-It is certainly a great way to rein in the school year by getting our kids excited for school, by way of something children everywhere love—a party!

We love how Alice Nielsen styled the party with little things that remind kids of school such as the blackboard backdrop, flash card welcome sign, textbooks, school supplies favor bags, healthy snack treats such as apples, milk and granola bars, and of course, the school baon staple: PB & J sandwiches.

Here are some photos of the party to inspire you:

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches wrapped in brown parchment and some twine is such a cute way to present these school snack staples. We are loving the apple shaped chalk board sign too.

These lovely french style bottles with red and white striped paper straws, adorned with 3 yogurt covered pretzels is a definite upgrade to plain milk cartons.
