Fresh flowers always brighten up a room. It draws the eye and lends a relaxing and homey feel to any space, more so when they are arranged beautifully.
Creating stunning flower arrangements for your home may seem intimidating, but trust us, it’s not rocket science. All you need is a good eye for color, depth and proportion, and a whole lot of greens. According to an article by Chris Nease of Celebrations At Home, the secret to a show-stopping flower centrepiece on a budget is buying alot of greenery, which cost alot less than buying flowers. They add alot of texture and architectural detail to your arrangement and is great for filling up loose spaces in your vase.
Here are Chris Nease’s 4 easy steps to making your own gorgeous flower centerpieces at home.
1. Choose a vase where the opening is not too large. This will hold the arrangement together better than vases with wide mouths. Plus, this means you won’t have to use too many flowers to fill up your vase.
2. Fill your vase with greenery first and evenly distribute them, letting some hang off the edges. Make sure to leave just enough space for the flowers.
3. Add your flowers. Put them in one by one so you can carefully account for proper spacing and color distribution. To add depth, cut stems shorter for those that will appear in the front and taller for those at the back. If you are creating a table centerpiece, those in the middle should be the highest and the shorter flowers should be placed around the rim of the vase.
4. Asses the arrangement and see if there are still some spaces that call for more greenery or more flowers. The end result should be an eye-catching, but well-balanced flower arrangement.
